At the end of September, Mathec delivered its first complete automatic ma­chine for the production of FFP2 face masks against bird flu (flat mask, type “duck beak” shape). The Thuasne group (a global supplier in narrow elastic textile techniques), the buyer of this machine, is one the five French industrialists chosen by the government in the beginning of 2006 for the manufacturing of FFP2 face masks against bird flu. The group could eventually order a second or even third machine from  Mathec.

For the Mathec company, settled in the South of France, this realization is the reflection of high-tech process and shows important technological developments in the special machine area.

Mathec has traditionally worked with important diapers manufacturers such as Kimberly-Clark, Procter & Gamble, Tyco & SCA and has specialized since 1997 in the conception, realization and the installation of parts (long life rotary die units, SAP applicators, drum forming) or complete machines for the hygiene industry through the world.

This automatic line was manufactured in seven months and will reach production performances of 100 masks per mi­nute, that is to say 40,000 to 50,000 masks every eight hours. The masks are composed of four nonwovens layers, elastic and nasal bar welded with an ultrasound weld unit ( plus the option of a soft layer and frontal support option) and are packaged in individual pockets delivered on a conveyor belt with a separation every 50 masks (adjustable). Entirely de­signed by Mathec according to client requirements, the line is reliable and easy to use.

A second machine will be delivered to a large volume distribution company in January 2007.
